Langwig Research Group
The Langwig Laboratory
Research in the Langwig Lab merges theoretical and empirical approaches to answer basic and applied scientific questions in ecology and evolution of infectious disease. The lab aims to advance theory on the role of infectious disease in regulating populations and driving changes in species communities.
The lab uses empirical data collection and modeling to understand important determinants of host-parasite interactions, including the role of the climate and host heterogeneity in influencing disease outcomes. Understanding the role of disease in biological systems can aid in mitigating the effects of introduced pathogens on host communities, and the lab's research has implications for policy and disease management.
